Impressed with: Scenery
Not impressed with: It is more expensive than I thought
Recommend: The 2 restaurants next to each other on quayside in Mali ston...also day trip to Bosnia is well worth it
Favourite villa moment: Lazy day spent sitting near the villa on the steps by the wall with coffee and reading materials
Stayed April 2018An excellent property, the owner was very helpful and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. The location was just perfect and Mali Ston was quiet and peaceful without all the normal tacky tourist shops and restaurants.
For some reason I did not receive an email from Croatian Villas with accommodation details and directions. I had to call a week before departure to get details but was dealt with efficiently and quickly.
Impressed with: The natural beauty and that the area is protected from mass tourism. The people were also lovely, friendly and helpful.
Not impressed with: I cannot think of anything it was a perfect holiday.
Recommend: Three restaurants in town, all good although Kapetana Kova was the best with great seafood, good wines and excellent service.
Favourite villa moment: Trips to Dubrovnic, Korcula, Mljet, the walls of Mali Ston and boat trip to taste the famous oysters and mussels straight out of the sea.
Stayed July 2015
Read more reviewsThere is long term renovation work going on at the building next door and although it is not a constant ongoing noise it might be worth mentioning that there may be a small amount of noise from that from time to time. Generally it is quite peaceful. The owner was staying in the village at the time and has a long term family history there so was always on hand and helpful with any questions. Anything she was not sure of she got back to us with information which was great. We also spent a lovely evening with the owner, friends and other guests which was very nice. We have taken holiday lets before and the only other thing we normally have that is useful is a short note on how to leave the villa on exit. I wasn't sure what was required. And perhaps a little mud map of the village and what is available there and nearby. When we arrived we were met and shown around but it's a lot to process and remember when you've just got there so having a note to refer back to is always helpful.
Impressed with: It is similar to my home country (NZ) in that it is not so busy or developed that you can still pull up at a beach, restaurant or shops and it is possible to get a park easily and it is not all paid parking. How refreshing!!
Not impressed with: The drivers. Would do well with a minimum speed limit so other people aren't forced to overtake slow drivers in crazy places. Some overtaking lanes would be good. Would also be better if people stayed on their side of the road as people didn't pay much attention to the centre line.
Recommend: It is possible to arrange for tours out of Dubrovnik to Mostar in Bosnia Herz to pick you up from the main road near Mali Ston if you request it. Local restaurants in village are good.
Favourite villa moment: The courtyard is a lovely spot for drinks or meals at homeStayed July 2012
Good/Excellent. Owners are lovely really interesting and helpful.
Air conditioning needs to be beefed up a visitor’s book with the many local activities from previous occupants would be really useful.Impressed with: Unspoilt nature
Not impressed with: Driving and needs more activities around ston
Favourite villa moment: Time with owner and visiting islandsVilla Comments: There is an AC on every floor, stronger than needed for the room sizes. They were bought couple years ago and are pretty much top of the line. We will check them out though.
We are working on a small book of things to do, house instructions etc. It should be there next season.Stayed July/August 2014
It was all perfect. We didn't have wi-fi connected initially, but the owner went out of her way to make sure this was available. Beautiful village, lovely swimming, perfectly located for restaurants etc and very friendly people.
We would happily recommend it to others, and would love to stay in the owner’s other properties too one day (PJ016). We would definitely hope to go back to Mali Ston. Swimming in the bay was wonderful, and very safe for children.
Owner was wonderful from the moment we met her, very helpful in showing us the property and where everything was etc. She also helped us take our luggage up the steps and gave us a cool drink when we arrived. She supplied us with figs and other vegetables from her garden throughout the week which were delicious!!!! And again with the wi-fi, she was more than helpful going the extra mile to sort it for us. We really enjoyed meeting her, and she told us much about the history of the village etc. which was fantastic.
I think if all of the owners of your villas are as accommodating as ours was, then you have a great thing going.
Impressed with: The beauty of the coastline and landscape, including lovely little bays and islands yet to explore, love the whole 'sailing' environment The friendliness of the people The good quality food, reasonably priced The Weather! The tomatoes...our Villa owners were the most delicious Dubrovnik was outstanding, would like to go back when not so busy
Not impressed with: The food 'could' be even better, would love to see some wonderful Italian style coffee places and restaurants celebrating Croatian produce
Recommend: Kapetanova kuca, was fantastic for a special birthday celebration for my Mother, the staff were wonderful and the food was great We walked to Ston on several occasions, the bakery on the square was superb, unfortunately not discovered until the day before we left, delicious The restaurants and bars in Ston, were cheaper than in Mali Ston, but delicious, we had a seafood platter for two for under £30 and it was 'out of this world'. You cant buy decent ground coffee in the supermarkets, but most people go out for coffee...there are good places both in Mali Ston, and Ston. Prapratno beach is very close and was lovely, great for families.
Favourite villa moment: Waking up, knowing the weather was just beautiful, opening the shutters and looking out onto the harbour. Gorgeous We also had some lovely meals out in the courtyard.Stayed August 2014
